Harborview Children's Clinic

Residents who choose Harborview Medical Center as a continuity clinic site will enjoy becoming the pediatrician for their patients in the family atmosphere of an inner-city primary care clinic.

Cambodian, Vietnamese and East African families are well represented among Harborview’s patient population, as are smaller numbers of Haitian and Hispanic families. These populations have a high prevalence of chronic diseases such as anemia, asthma, failure to thrive and developmental delay.

Harborview has excellent resources to help care for these children's medical and psychosocial needs.

Each resident is assigned to a primary care RN who helps triage and provide continuity of care for that resident's panel when they are not available. Outreach workers from seven different language groups coordinate care and make home visits to families with high social and medical needs. Well-trained medical interpreters work with providers at clinic visits.

For those interested in adolescent care, an opportunity exists to participate in a clinic held monthly at Cleveland High School's teen clinic which is operated by Harborview.
